A Summer Bedroom Update | Home

I know i'm not the only one that let's our bedroom get a little out of control. It's that one private place in your home that people typically don't see, and therefore, gets little attention (and is usually a dumping ground when trying to "clean" the rest of the house). With summer here, and hopefully a few relaxing mornings at home on the agenda, I wanted to tidy up our space, give it a quick update for summer, and make it a place I WANT to spend my mornings.

First things first, I definitely wanted to lighten up the corners around our bed. This called for bright and airy bedding and a mix of white and gold accessories. Our old side tables were large, chunky and dark wood. And while these aren't your traditional bedside tables, I love that they are still functional but interesting and fun at the same time.

I decided on the Plum & Bow bedding from Urban Outfitters. I usually go for bright white, but loved this soft off white for a change of pace. It also helped tie in some other neutral colors I wanted to use in the art.

I picked up two extra large frames and lettered some fun quotes. To finalize the corner, I added some gold accessories including this gold tray to hold candles and jewelry (this candle is a current favorite!), a gold planter for succulents (ALWAYS add something living like a plant or airplant!), and a rose patterned rug to break up the dark wood. Isn't waking up and stepping on  hard floors the worst? Just me? Maybe.

These little dots are so cute on the duvet!

I also layered a faux sheepskin rug on the diamond printed rug... because I still can't get over the fur! Will it ever get old?

How many times have I walked in the room to check it out since I've made these updates? Hmmm... too many to count. But I love when a part of our home makes me want to be in it. When you are tired of looking at it, it's time for an update right? So, here's to hoping this means more coffee (and donuts, if Ryan will go get them for me that is) in bed this summer.
