Fall Bedroom Decor Ideas

I don’t typically do a big overhaul in the bedrooms for specific seasons. What I do like to do is add a little color and switch up the textures. It’s a super simple way to give your room a different feel without going all out.

We had a simple bright, white and airy vibe going for summer which was a great base to start with for adding pieces that reflected fall. Here are the 3 MAJOR changes I made for optimal impact with minimal effort.

ONE • ADD A THROW BLANKET

Or two or three. It’s the best way to throw in a pop of color inexpensively as well as functionally. For fall I went with a plaid throw and fuzzy woven throw layered on top of each other. These can easily work for any season BUT, paired with a few other items I think they are the perfect cozy addition for our fall bedroom. You can translate this to any season; add a red throw near christmas or top your bed with some pastels in spring.

TWO • INFUSE SEASONAL TEXTURE (and color)

Again, something you can do with your blankets as mentioned, but you can also use pillows, small nightstand accents, art, or even books! I added a little green with our pillows as well as a boucle type texture that adds warmth. Since our wall is so dark, i stayed with lighter stone accents for the nightstand.

THREE • DRIED FLORALS

I love fresh flowers and greens but for me, that isn’t practical in the bedroom. I forget about them and feel like something dried makes much more sense! To keep with the fall vibes I used some stems that reminded me of wheat bundles, something you see a lot of this time of year. I kept it flowing and simple but it added just the right amount of movement that every room needs.

TIP

The reason I love decorating this way so much is there is NO waste. They are simple classic pieces that will last for years AND work in different ways for different seasons. Maybe I will store my faux fur blankets once winter is over, but they will come back out next year. And the green pillows? Tuck them next to a woven jute accent pillow and they will look great in the summer too.

Next time you are shopping for seasonal decor, challenge yourself to find pieces that will work in multiple different ways and not just for the next few weeks!
