3 Step Cocktail Garnish That Will Make Any Cocktail Look Good | Cocktail DIY

One thing I do love in my drink: An amazing garnish.

One thing I don't love making for my drinks:  An amazing garnish.

I think a gorgeous garnish takes simple cocktails to the next level and makes it feel a little more fancy, never a bad thing. But when i'm done mixing one up, the last thing I want to do is craft up something to add to my drink that is just there to look good. So I wanted to share a quick tutorial on how to make this fantastic, but more importantly easy, citrus twist that adds a little flair and a little flavor.

Start with your favorite pieces of citrus fruit, wash and dry.

With a small knife, work your way around the fruit carving off the outer layer. It should be about 5-6 inches long or go almost all the way around once.

Take toothpicks or skewers cut to size and insert through the end of your roll to the other side. If you keep the skewer slightly closer to the top of the roll (that you want showing in your glass) it will hang upright, if not, you may have issues with it flipping over.
