Fall/Winter Photo Props Under $15

Between our blog shoots, styling services for other business, and creating new monthly content for The Creative Library, there is no shortage of photo props around here. Obviously there are a lot of things I already own that we pull for different shoots, but it’s always nice to add in something new or seasonal to really elevate the shot. We do various photo shoots almost weekly, so finding props that don’t break the bank is so so important.

These are some of my favorite fall/winter props for under $15..

Fruit is SUCH an easy add to any photo. It’s easy to find, it’s always available, there are beautiful colors + textures, and it can serve a purpose beyond a styled photo. For the fall/winter season, plums, pomegranate, pears, honeycrisp apples, cranberries and blackberries are all great options to show styled in a bowl, as part of a place setting, or disguised as decor. Oh, and all fruit is EASILY under $5 dependent on how much you are buying.

Who doesn’t love a good cozy, chunky knit or a little faux fur once the weather begins to cool? Incorporating some cozy textiles into your shot immediately gives the shot some texture and elevates the entire image. The best part? You probably already have a lot of items on hand that could work great! But if not..

Real, dried, fake. A combination of all three. We almost never have a shoot without florals on hand. A fun arrangement, or just a quick bundle of blooms adds gorgeous texture + depth to any shot. I have started quite the collection of dried and fake florals that I mix in the some fresh blooms for our shoots, making bouquets and arrangements that much more budget-friendly with each shoot.

A lot of these items I incorporate into shoots despite the time of year, but something about adding a lit candle or handful of matches to a fall/winter focused shoot instantly makes it feel even more seasonally appropriate and just cozier. Candles, matches, wine glasses, and coffee table books are all great props to give a shot a little extra interest!

The more you are taking photos and playing around with styling, the more items you will have on hand making each shoot less and less of a struggle to source different items to get the shot just right. Always try to think out of the box and know you can grab some fruit or flowers from your local grocery store when you can’t find the perfect item to fill out the frame.

What are some of your favorite photo props? let us know in the comments!
