DIY : Dried Citrus

I kept seeing dried citrus popping up all over my Pinterest feed as an easy, eco-friendly option to use as decor this holiday season, so naturally, I wanted to give it a go and incorporate it into some different festive projects. We used it as decor in the AFF office, but will also be using it for gift wrapping, which we will be sharing in a post soon!

It is seriously the most simple project, but since we are sharing the end result in a couple of blog posts, we figured it would be worth sharing how to dry your own citrus as well!

what you need:

  • Citrus of your choice - we used lemons, oranges + grapefruit

  • Parchment paper

  • Baking sheet

how to:

  • Preheat your oven to 200ºF.

  • Evenly slice all of your citrus. Thicker slices will take longer to dry out, thinner slices will tend to shrivel, so it’s best to try to get an even thickness.

  • Line baking sheet with parchment paper and place citrus slices in rows.

  • Pop it in the oven! It can take anywhere from 2-4 hours, and you should flip the slices half way through.

We set a timer for an hour and a half, flipped the citrus, and then put them back in the oven for another hour and a half. At that point, they still felt a little juicy, so we let the bake for another hour or so!
