kitchen restyle // home

i like to think of our home as a work in progress. over the years, we've updated many of the rooms, but still have small projects to complete. one room that has been revamped since i moved in, was the kitchen. so i've never really given it much thought besides throwing a cute towel on the sink. one thing that i constantly battle with though, is the kitchen floor. i pretty much never wear shoes, even when entertaining (at home!), and i cannot stand little crumbs and drops of water. you know what i mean. especially when we have guests

it seems to be even worse! so for a while, i've been wanting to try out a little rug situation. something with color and pattern to spice up the otherwise simple decor. and also something i wouldn't be heartbroken over if it was spilled on and ruined.

gave me a little challenge to style or restyle an area using just rugs (perfect timing!), so to test out the look before i purchased anything, i grabbed a few from around the house and in just 5 minutes gave our kitchen a new look.

better right?! niko seemed to enjoy lounging in there too. not sure if that's a good thing

i really love the layered look with a small pop of color. i'll probably go with something a bit darker for the base rug as we know there will inevitably be spills next time we have guests over. here are just a few of my picks so far from
