DIY Valentines Day Gifts For The 3 Most Important People (And Pets!) In Your Life

Yikes, nothing like cutting it close right? Well there are still a few hours until it's officially v-day, and even more if you can whip one of these together on your lunch break. Here in the office, we aren't huge on love day. But, we do like to show a little appreciation to those that we care about. So we came up with some simple, inexpensive, and easy valentines day gifts that you guys can make for yourself! We thought of who we wanted to share the love with, what they might want or need, and how we could do it with a quick click on amazon or trip to the grocery store. See how we made our guys, our fave girls, and our pups at home something for v-day.

For your Gal: Mini Desk Plant

Instructions:

This one's a little messy so you may want to lay down some newspaper down or do this outside. Carefully remove the plant from the plastic pot it came in. If the plant is large, you may need to clip it down a bit to fit inside of your small glass jar. Transfer the plant into the small jar, and pack as much dirt as you can fit into the jar so its nice and snug and not wiggling around. **Use gardening gloves if you're using a cactus...you don't want to get pricked!**

What you'll need:

  • 2" succulent or cactus (we got ours from Home Depot)

  • Small glass jar (we used empty diptyque candle jars)

Optional:

  • Gardening Gloves

  • Newspaper

For Your Pet: Pet Bandana

Instructions:

Write your pets name in pencil on a corner of the bandana. This will give you a guide on where to stitch. Cut a long piece of thread and tie a knot at the end of it. Thread your needle, and start embroidering. There are a number of embroidery stitches you can choose from (learn about them here), but we used the back stitch method. Fold the bandana in a way to show the stitched name.

What you'll need:

  • Bandana

  • Needle

  • Embroidery Thread

  • Scissors

  • Pencil

For your guy: Brisket Rub

Instructions:

In no particular order, layer each spice on top of each other. We switched back and forth from light to dark spices to show some contrast between each layer. When you're ready to use it, shake the container to combine all ingredients together, ensuring they are evenly mixed together. Store in a sealed, air-tight container. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup paprika

  • 3 tbsp maple sugar

  • 2 tbsp kosher salt

  • 2 tbsp garlic powder

  • 1 tbsp black pepper

  • 1 tbsp onion powder

  • 1 tbsp cumin

  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
