All Grey for a Santorini Wedding

Earlier this year we worked on a simple grey suite for what will definitely be, an amazing wedding in Santorini (I mean, is it possible for it NOT to be in that setting?). With their wedding approaching this summer, I wanted to share a few details that went into creating this for the couple.

While they received the works in terms of items in their suite, the couple wanted to keep the design neutral, monotone and very clean. It's a leap from some of our crazy floral borders, but the more I work in this simple style, the more I love it and gently nudge new brides towards it;) To recap what went into C + M's suite, it consisted of a letterpress invitation, digitally printed RSVP and transportation cards, white digitally printed map of Santorini, watercolor liners, hand addressed envelopes (returns and rsvp envelopes were printed) and we tied it all together with a vellum band. The couple took care of assembly and even sealed all of their envelopes with a custom wax seal in white.

These simple bands are such a great way to tie up all of the pieces in your suite, recommended if you are adding inserts, maps, etc. While some couples keep them plain, there are so many customizations you can add.

  • Going with formal addressing on the outside? Add guests first names on the inside, similar to inner envelopes.
  • Add your website here
  • Say hello to your guests and set the tone with a fun message
  • Print your crest or monogram
  • Continue a pattern you have on your suite
  • Tie with string to add another layer of texture

The list goes on! I want ALL brides to use them because they are so fun and versatile.

We got creative here as the couple really wanted to keep the invitation special with the letterpress, but weren't sold on using the process throughout. So, we found paper that was very similar to the double thick we use for letterpress, but in a thinner weight so that it could be digitally printed. Then we were careful to call out a pantone that matched our envelopes (and map paper!) for the letterpress color as well as the digital printing. This can be tricky when you aren't at your printer to monitor these steps, or even trickier if you use several printers!

This part is the most rewarding... looking back (and getting to take a million gorgeous photos) on all the hard work you, your team and the couple put into such an awesome suite. Hope you guys love looking back at these as much as I do! If you're looking for wedding invitations for your own big day, click below to read more about our services...
