A Holiday Knitting Party For Your Girls | Entertaining

Sure, I always love a relaxing girls night where all that is on the agenda is a little chatting and a lot of wine. But sometimes it's fun to get together and try something new out (with of course, the girl chats and wine). I partnered with We Are Knitters to host a holiday gathering and give my friends the chance to learn a new skill. We Are Knitters puts together these amazing little kits that include everything you need to make a piece of your choice. From blankets to beanies (and these ARE in the beginner category!) there are so many things you can make.

I'll be honest, I always thought knitting was for my grandma. When I took a look at the kits they offered though, I couldn't wait to learn. So I set up a little picnic with champagne, snacks, and kits to start blankets, pillows, scarves and beanies. We were all as beginner as you get, so I can't say we got far, but it was a super fun time to get together with the girls! Plus we all had something to take home and finish that reminded us of a great time together.

Each kit comes in a pretty kraft bag with all the goods to get you started including super soft wool yarn and gorgeous wood knitting needles.

Only the healthiest of snacks were served;) A sweet and savory mix of popcorn, donuts and pink champagne!

The party was set up picnic style on rugs with blankets and pillows to get cozy in and finished off with some flowing arrangements.

A little tip for beginners: have an iPad or your phone ready to go with the basics of knitting. You'll need to know some of those to get started so we just hopped on YouTube!

Large drawstring bags were customized with watercolor tags for the girls to take home their works in progress.

It's actually really easy to host when you have an activity to focus on! Make all of the other details simple to prepare like I did here... premade (aka bought) snacks, a great drink and you are set. I love that the kits kind of double as your gifts to friends. I'm all about gifting experiences instead of things people will throw out eventually, and I think this is the perfect way to gift an experience your friends can take home. I even created a printable (seen above) that is a great way to send that message. Check back next week for the download!

The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.

How will you be celebrating the holidays with your friends this season? If you want to try out a little knitting party too, We Are Knitters has a special offer for A Fabulous Fete readers. Use the code AFABULOUSWAK at checkout for 15% off! Valid through January 15th, 2016. Enjoy!
